What it does

This mission handles pre-call planning for you. Each morning, ChatGPT or Claude checks who you're meeting, pulls every past Fathom conversation and email thread with them, and writes a short brief: what you discussed last time, open items on both sides, decisions still pending and personal details they mentioned.

You walk into each call knowing where things stand, and the customer doesn't have to repeat themselves.

Who it's for

Sellers, account managers and founders with back-to-back customer calls who don't have time to dig through notes between meetings.

The flight plan

Run it every morning for the day's calls, or a few minutes before an important one. If your AI assistant supports scheduled tasks, schedule the morning run.

  1. Connect Fathom, your calendar and your email to ChatGPT or Claude.
  2. Run the starter prompt each morning.
  3. Skim each brief before the call.
  4. After the call, note anything the brief missed so you can refine the prompt.
  5. Keep the brief short enough to read in the minute before you join.

RULES

Lead with what changed since the last conversation.

List open items from both sides.

Include only personal details the customer shared on a call.

Keep each brief to one screen.

Flag when there's no history, so you know to start fresh.

What good looks like

A good brief tells you where the conversation left off and what you owe them. A mediocre one summarizes the company's website.

GOOD

"Last call (Oct 9): agreed to pilot with the support team. You owe them pricing for 40 seats. They owe you the security questionnaire. Pending: legal review. Personal: Maria mentioned she's moving to the Denver office next month."

MEDIOCRE

"Acme is a software company founded in 2015 with 300 employees."

STARTER PROMPT

⧉ Copy

Check my calendar for today's external meetings. For each one, use Fathom to find my past meetings with those attendees and check my email for recent threads with them.

Write a brief for each meeting: where we left off, open items I owe them and they owe me, decisions still pending and any personal details they've mentioned. Keep each brief under 150 words and lead with anything that changed since our last conversation. If there's no history, say so.

FAQs

Questions? We’ve got you covered.

How do I prepare for a sales call?

Review what you discussed last time, what each side committed to and what's still undecided. Connecting Fathom to ChatGPT or Claude lets AI pull every past conversation with the attendees and turn it into a one-page brief before you join.

Does this work for first calls with no history?

The brief flags when there's no past conversation, so you know to start fresh. For first calls, pair it with research on the company and the person you're meeting.

Which Fathom plan do I need to run this skill in ChatGPT or Claude?

Any Fathom plan, including Free. The skill reads your calls through Fathom's MCP integration with ChatGPT and Claude, which is on every plan.

What is pre-call planning?

Pre-call planning is preparing for a sales or customer call by reviewing the account, the attendees and the goal of the conversation. Good planning means you open the call where the last one left off.
