REQUEST A MISSION

Tell us the meeting and what should happen after it. More detail means a sharper flight plan.

Request a mission

What it does

This mission sets up a customer research template and keeps it filled in. Each week, ChatGPT or Claude pulls the last seven days of sales and client calls from Fathom and updates one document: why people bought, what almost stopped them, the outcomes they're after and their exact words.

Your copywriters and media buyers work from that doc, so every new ad starts from current buyer language.

Who it's for

Performance marketers and copywriters who write ads every week and want fresh research without running interviews.

The flight plan

Set it up once, then run it every Monday on the previous week's calls. If your AI assistant supports scheduled tasks, schedule it.

  1. Connect Fathom and your document storage, like SharePoint or Google Drive, to ChatGPT or Claude.
  2. Create the research doc with the four sections in the starter prompt.
  3. Run the starter prompt on last week's sales and client calls.
  4. Review the new entries and remove anything confidential.
  5. Run it weekly and pull ad angles from the newest entries first.

RULES

Add to the doc. Don't overwrite older entries.

Quote buyers exactly and date each quote.

Keep buying reasons, objections and outcomes in separate sections.

Remove names and company details.

Mark themes that show up week after week.

What good looks like

A good research doc lets a copywriter write an ad without listening to a single call. A mediocre one summarizes calls without the buyer's words.

GOOD

"Objection (Oct 6–12): 'We tried a tool like this and nobody used it.' Came up on three calls. Answered by showing the team view during the demo."

MEDIOCRE

"Customers had some concerns about adoption."

STARTER PROMPT

⧉ Copy

Use Fathom to pull my sales and client calls from the last 7 days. Read the transcripts and pull out four things: why they bought or are considering buying, what nearly stopped them or is slowing them down, the outcomes they want, and exact phrases worth using in ads.

Add these to my customer research doc under matching sections, with the date range and a direct quote for each. Don't remove older entries. Leave out names and companies.

Finish with three ad angles based on this week's newest themes.

FAQs

Questions? We’ve got you covered.

How do I keep customer research up to date?

Make it a weekly routine instead of a one-time project. Connecting Fathom to ChatGPT or Claude lets AI read the past week's calls and add new buying reasons, objections and quotes to one living document.

How is this different from voice of customer analysis?

Voice of customer analysis ranks themes across a large set of calls, usually for product and strategy decisions. This mission keeps a running document current for the people writing ads every week, with the newest buyer language at the top.

Which Fathom plan do I need to run this skill in ChatGPT or Claude?

Any Fathom plan, including Free. The skill reads your calls through Fathom's MCP integration with ChatGPT and Claude, which is on every plan.

What should a customer research template include?

At minimum: why customers buy, what almost stopped them, the outcomes they want and the exact words they use, each with a source and a date. Those four sections cover most of what a copywriter needs.
