Request a mission

What it does

This mission handles Salesforce call logging for you. After each sales call, the AI reads the conversation through Fathom and pulls out three things: the deal stage the buyer is in, the next steps each side agreed to and the objections they raised. Those go onto the matching Salesforce opportunity.

Fathom's Salesforce integration already logs your call summaries. This mission adds the deal-level fields your forecast depends on. Test it in ChatGPT or Claude first, then move it into a Zap with Zapier so it runs on every call.

Who it's for

Sales reps, sales managers and RevOps teams who want accurate opportunities without chasing reps to update them.

The flight plan

Start by running it on a few calls by hand. Once the output is reliable, automate it.

  1. Connect Fathom and Salesforce to ChatGPT or Claude.
  2. Run the starter prompt on a recent call and check which opportunity it matched.
  3. Adjust the field names in the prompt to match your Salesforce setup.
  4. To automate it, build a Zap that triggers on a new Fathom summary, add an AI step with the starter prompt and finish with a Salesforce Update Record step.
  5. Spot-check a few opportunities each week to confirm the fields are landing correctly.

RULES

Match the call to an opportunity by account and attendees, and stop if it's unclear.

Use the stage names from your own Salesforce picklist.

Write objections in the buyer's words.

Leave a field blank rather than guess.

Return the output as JSON so Zapier can map each field.

What good looks like

A good update changes the fields your pipeline review looks at. A mediocre one logs that a call happened.

GOOD

"Opportunity: Contoso Renewal. Stage: Negotiation. Next steps: legal redlines due Nov 4 (Contoso), revised order form by Nov 6 (you). Objection: 'price per seat is higher than our current tool.'"

MEDIOCRE

"Call logged with Contoso. Discussed renewal."

STARTER PROMPT

⧉ Copy

Use Fathom to get my most recent sales call and find the matching opportunity in Salesforce.

Act as a sales CRM assistant. From the call, extract the deal stage (using our Salesforce stage names), next steps with owners and dates, and any objections in the buyer's words. Return the result as JSON with the fields stage, next_steps and objections. If something wasn't discussed, leave it empty.

FAQs

Questions? We’ve got you covered.

How do I log a call in Salesforce automatically?

Fathom's Salesforce integration logs call summaries for you. To also update deal stage, next steps and objections, run this mission in ChatGPT or Claude, or build a Zap that sends each new Fathom summary through an AI step to a Salesforce Update Record step.

What if the AI matches the wrong opportunity?

The rules tell it to stop when the match is unclear. Start by running it by hand and checking the match before you automate it.

Which Fathom plan do I need to run this skill in ChatGPT or Claude?

Any Fathom plan, including Free, for the ChatGPT or Claude version. It reads your calls through Fathom's MCP integration, which is on every plan. The always-on Zapier version needs a paid plan: Fathom's Zapier integration is available with limits on Premium and in full on Team and Business.

What is Salesforce call logging?

Salesforce call logging is saving the notes and outcomes of each customer call against the right contact, account or opportunity. It keeps the pipeline accurate and gives anyone who opens the deal the full history.
