MISSION

Flag churn risk from what customers say on calls

Customers usually say they're unhappy before they leave, but rarely in a support ticket. This mission catches churn risk on calls and alerts the account owner while there's time to act.

Request a mission

What it does

This mission flags churn risk from your customer calls. ChatGPT or Claude reads each call through Fathom and looks for warning signs: frustration, mentions of a competitor, budget cuts, a champion leaving or low use of the product. When it finds one, it alerts the account owner with the quote and a suggested next step.

If your team uses Pylon or Attive, their Fathom integrations do this inside the tools you already use, with health scores and alerts tied to each account.

Who it's for

Customer success managers and account managers who own renewals and want early warning instead of a surprise cancellation.

The flight plan

Run it daily across customer calls, and review flagged accounts in your weekly CS meeting.

  1. Connect Fathom to ChatGPT or Claude, or set up the Pylon or Attive integration.
  2. List the risk signals that matter for your business.
  3. Run the starter prompt on last week's customer calls and check what it flags.
  4. Send alerts to the account owner in Slack or email.
  5. Track which flagged accounts renewed, so you can tune the signals.

RULES

Quote the customer for every flag.

Rate each risk as high, medium or low, with a reason.

Suggest one next step for the account owner.

Don't flag routine complaints that were resolved on the call.

Alert the account owner, not the whole team.

What good looks like

A good alert gives the owner a reason to call this week. A mediocre one says the customer seemed unhappy.

GOOD

"High risk: Brightline. Champion said 'I'm moving to a new role next month' and asked about contract terms. Suggested next step: meet her replacement before she leaves."

MEDIOCRE

"Brightline may be at risk."

STARTER PROMPT

⧉ Copy

Use Fathom to find this week's calls with existing customers. Look for churn signals: frustration, competitor mentions, budget cuts, a champion leaving or low product use.

For each account with a signal, give the risk level (high, medium or low), the quote, a one-line reason and one suggested next step for the account owner. Skip issues that were resolved on the call.

FAQs

Questions? We’ve got you covered.

How do I spot churn risk before a customer cancels?

Listen for signals on calls: frustration, competitor mentions, budget cuts or a champion leaving. Connecting Fathom to ChatGPT or Claude lets AI check every customer call for these signals and alert the account owner.

How is this different from a customer health score?

Health scores usually run on product usage and support tickets. This mission adds what customers say on calls, which often shows risk earlier.

Which Fathom plan do I need to run this skill in ChatGPT or Claude?

Any Fathom plan, including Free. The skill reads your calls through Fathom's MCP integration with ChatGPT and Claude, which is on every plan.

What is churn risk?

Churn risk is the likelihood that a customer will cancel or not renew. Teams track it to step in early with the accounts most likely to leave.
